About Multiple Award-Winning Designer, Dorie Kong

 

Dorie has been in the bridal business in America since 1992.  Her studio is located in Tustin,  Orange County, CA. She has won multiple design awards, including the coveted "Bride's Choice" Award three years in a row. She had designed pageant gowns who captured state titles and national titles.  

 

Dorie studied Dress-making and Fashion Designing and graduated in Malaysia and Singapore. She completed her Fashion Advancement Program in London, Paris and Milan. Finally, she worked as the Head Fashion Instructor for Dress Making for 10 years in Malaysia.

 

Dorie has satisfied many clients with custom couture one-of-a-kind wedding  and evening gowns. She tailored beautiful gown from "scratch" for over 2 decades. Today, her business model has changed to focus on wedding gown and formal dress alterations.

 

Dorie is a master at wedding gown alterations. She enjoys the art of couture fittings, and especially wedding gown alterations. A gown is just a dress until it is transformed into a piece of art on the body. She says "There is no such thing as an imperfect body, only an imperfect fit". She sees the sculptural quality of a bridal gown, and can alter it to your exact proportions. Even when you order a "custom" gown from a retail bridal shop or online, there is no guarantee it is properly fit to your proportions, as they are mass produced. Hence, alterations for custom gowns are already a part of the process for most brides. As a result, some bridal retailers may offer free alterations as part of the sale. Working with an expert to alter one of your most valued pieces of art is a must.
